Though I was mesmerized by the responsiveness of its screen and accelerometer, and made giddy by the offering of apps (the Marvel Comics reader and Real Racing HD were two of my favs), my mind is telling me to ignore the iPad's innate geek magnetism and wait for the competitors to arrive. I mean, that'll be soon, right? We all know Microsoft was planning a productivity workhorse called Courier, and that the HP Slate, an official effort for months now, is likewise in the oven. Plus, just this week, Google dealt itself into the game by announcing a 6-inch slate tablet with Android as the operating system. You can read more on our blog, but I'll ruin some of the surprise here: it's not hitting the market 'til 2011. Oh well, a tablet-lover (I'm a lover, not an owner) can still dream...
